Emergency Drills

In accordance with the State of Michigan requirements, Unity Academy conducts regular emergency preparedness drills throughout the school year. These drills are designed to ensure the safety of all students and staff and to prepare our school community for a variety of potential emergency situations.

The State of Michigan mandates that schools conduct the following drills each school year:

• 5 fire drills (at least 3 held by December 1)
   
• 2 tornado safety drills (one during March)
   
• 3 lockdown/shelter-in-place drills (at least one conducted by December 1 and one after January 1)

A record of each completed drill is maintained by the school and posted publicly in compliance with state law.
