About Our Principal

Dr.Wafa Hassan
Dr. Wafa Hassan holds a Doctorate in Bilingual Education and a Master’s degree in Reading Management from The George Washington University School of Education and Human Development.
She serves as the Director of the Arabic Language and Culture Department at Global Educational Excellence (GEE), overseeing Arabic language programs across 15 schools in Michigan and leading curriculum development, instructional improvement, and professional development initiatives.
Prior to joining GEE, Dr. Hassan was an Assistant Professor of Arabic Language and Culture at Western Michigan University and served as faculty member and Outreach Director for Michigan State University’s Arabic Flagship Program.
A nationally and internationally recognized teacher trainer, Dr. Hassan has led numerous professional development programs for world language educators, including directing STARTALK teacher-training programs for Arabic educators. She is the co-author of the standards-based Arabic 1 and Arabic 2 high school textbook series and served on the National Standards for Learning Arabic K–16 Task Force.
Her research and publications focus on teacher professional development, language assessment, heritage language learners, and second language acquisition. Through her leadership, scholarship, and curriculum work, Dr. Hassan continues to advance Arabic language education and multilingual learning across the United States and beyond.
