GEE Schools foster a respectful learning environment for all members of their local communities and desire to have a positive impact on the surrounding communities. Students at GEE schools learn about the importance of community involvement and civic responsibility through volunteering and participation in community projects.
All of the academies utilize community resources and volunteers to support learning in all core curriculum areas and character development. Opportunities for additional services are provided through these community resources to enhance the mental and physical well being of all the students.
The GEE academies are dedicated to preparing students for the world outside of school with opportunities for structured on the job learning. A wide variety of professionals from the community are invited to the academies to visit and introduce different career paths to the students. This is tied in with elements in the curriculum that help students to make meaningful ties between academics and the real world.
The academies work to forge links with local organizations to obtain experts who would be willing to share their knowledge with students on various topics and issues. They volunteer to serve as guest speakers, mentors, and tutors in the schools.
The academies network with public libraries, community colleges, local universities and other educational organizations to provide programs and services for students and families.
Out of school time programs run by various community groups are available at some academies where students receive help in key areas and are provided enrichment activities on the school campus.
